What HSBC exports natively, and where it stops
HSBC is several banks under one name, and the download options differ by country. Here is what each one offers:

Built for the way HSBC prints statements
UK statements do a few things that US-built converters get wrong. CapyParse reads them as HSBC prints them:
Paid out and paid in
UK statements print money out and money in as separate columns with a running balance. The export keeps both and adds a single signed amount, so it fits whatever your software expects.
Day-first dates
A UK statement dated 05 Apr means the fifth of April. Dates are written out unambiguously in the export, so nothing lands in the wrong month when you import it.
Payment type codes
HSBC UK marks rows with short codes such as DD for a direct debit or SO for a standing order. The code stays with the row, which makes recurring payments easy to filter.
Descriptions that wrap
Payee details often run onto a second or third line. Those lines are joined back into one description instead of turning into empty rows.
Did HSBC remove the CSV download?
It moved, and plenty of people concluded it was gone. HSBC UK’s help page is clear about the current position: statements download as PDF, and Excel or CSV is available from the transactions list. You search and filter by date, then use the Download link under the results.
What that gives you is recent activity, not a statement. HSBC does not say how far back it goes, and customers report anything from a few weeks to a year. If you need a specific statement period from two years ago, the list will not have it. The PDF will.
Two other changes are worth knowing. HSBC Kinetic, the app-only business account, closed on 2 July 2026 and its customers moved to HSBC UK Business Banking. HSBC Canada no longer exists: RBC completed its purchase in March 2024, so newer Canadian statements are RBC statements.

HSBC conversion questions
Can I download HSBC statements as CSV?
Not the statements themselves. HSBC UK statements download as PDF. You can download recent transactions as CSV or Excel from online banking: open the account, use Search and filter to set dates, then choose Download under the list. For older periods, download the PDF statements and convert them with CapyParse.
How far back can I get HSBC statements?
HSBC UK shows statements up to 6 years back in online and mobile banking. HSBC US keeps electronic deposit statements for up to 7 years. The transaction list download covers much less than that, so older history means PDFs.
Does this work with HSBC business statements?
Yes. HSBC UK Business Banking statements convert the same way as personal ones. If you were an HSBC Kinetic customer, Kinetic closed on 2 July 2026 and accounts moved to HSBC UK Business Banking. Statements from both periods convert.
Can I import an HSBC statement into QuickBooks or Xero?
Yes. Convert the PDF with CapyParse and export as QBO for QuickBooks, or CSV for Xero. Dates are written unambiguously, which avoids the day and month swap that UK statements often suffer on import.
What about HSBC Canada statements?
RBC completed its acquisition of HSBC Bank Canada on 28 March 2024. Statements from before that date are HSBC statements and convert here. Anything after is an RBC statement, which also converts.
