What Chase exports natively, and where it stops

Chase does let you export transactions, and for recent activity the built-in download is genuinely useful. The limits only show up when you need history. Here is what each option covers:

FormatWhereHistoryThe catch
CSV (spreadsheet)Account activity page, download iconAbout the last 24 monthsSilently truncates at roughly 1,000 rows per file. No error is shown, rows just go missing.
QFX / QBOSame activity download dialogSame 24-month windowOne account at a time. Older billing cycles never appear as options.
PDF statementsStatements & documents sectionUp to 7 yearsThe only format that covers your full history, and Chase offers no way to turn it into a spreadsheet.

Chase export behavior as of August 2026.

The activity download and your statements are different things. The download is a live transaction feed with a short window; the archive that reaches back 7 years is PDF only. That archive is what CapyParse converts, which matters most for catch-up bookkeeping, tax work, audits, and loan applications.

From Chase PDF to spreadsheet in two short steps

Get your statement PDFs from chase.com

  1. 1Sign in at chase.com and open the account you need.
  2. 2Choose Statements & documents, not Activity. Statements are available for up to 7 years.
  3. 3Pick a statement period and download the PDF. Repeat for each month you need, then upload them here in one batch.

Convert with CapyParse

  1. 1Upload the PDFs, digital or scanned, one statement or a whole year in a batch.
  2. 2Review every extracted transaction next to the original page, with anything unusual flagged for a quick check.
  3. 3Export CSV, Excel, or QBO. Multi-account statements come out as one clean file per account.

Built for the way Chase prints statements

Chase prints checking, credit card, and business statements in different layouts. CapyParse reads each one as printed:

Both dates on card transactions

Chase credit card statements show a transaction date and a post date. Your export keeps both, so records reconcile against the statement exactly.

Foreign transactions

Sapphire and other travel card statements list the original currency and exchange rate on separate continuation lines. Those stay attached to the right transaction instead of becoming stray rows.

Charges stay charges

Purchases, payments, credits, fees, and interest keep their direction in the export, so a refund never imports into your books as a purchase.

Checks and combined statements

Business checking statements with check thumbnails and PDFs that combine linked accounts come out as one clean table per account, with check numbers preserved.

Tested on real Chase checking and credit card statements, including multi-page Sapphire statements with foreign transactions.

Chase Ink Business export options

Ink Business Cash, Unlimited, Preferred, and Premier share the same export options as every other Chase card: a CSV, QFX, or QBO download from the activity page covering roughly the last 24 months, plus monthly PDF statements. There is no extended export for business cards.

Ink statements have their own layout quirks: separate debit and credit columns instead of one signed amount, and employee card sections with per-card subtotals. CapyParse normalizes both into a single consistent table, and the QBO export imports straight into QuickBooks.

Three formats out, ready for your tools

CSV

Opens directly in Excel and Google Sheets with dates, descriptions, and amounts in separate columns. The universal import format for every accounting tool.

Excel (XLSX)

Native spreadsheet formatting, one sheet per account on combined statements, ready for pivot tables and formulas.

QBO for QuickBooks

A Web Connect file with the financial institution details QuickBooks verifies, so imports work on the first try instead of failing with a bank error.

Review everything before you export

Every extracted transaction appears next to the original statement page, with anything unusual flagged for a second look. Nothing leaves for your books until you have seen it.

Chase conversion questions

How do I download a CSV from Chase?

Sign in at chase.com, open the account, and click the download icon at the top of the transaction activity list. Choose CSV as the file type and pick a date range or statement period. The download covers roughly the last 24 months and truncates at about 1,000 rows per file. For anything older, download the PDF statements instead and convert them with CapyParse.

What columns does Chase's CSV export include?

As of mid-2026, the Chase credit card CSV has seven columns: Transaction Date, Post Date, Description, Category, Type, Amount, and a usually empty Memo. The checking CSV uses Details, Posting Date, Description, Amount, Type, Balance, and Check or Slip #. A CapyParse export mirrors what is printed on the statement itself, including running balances on checking accounts.

Can I get Chase transactions older than 24 months as a CSV?

Not from the built-in download. Chase keeps up to 7 years of PDF statements in the Statements & documents section. Download the months you need, upload them to CapyParse in one batch, and export the whole history as CSV, Excel, or QBO.

Does this work with Chase credit card statements like Sapphire, Freedom, and Ink?

Yes. Chase card statements group transactions into Purchases, Payments, Credits, Fees, and Interest sections, and CapyParse keeps each type and its direction correct. It has been tested on real Chase card statements, including Sapphire statements with foreign currency lines and Ink Business statements with employee cards.

Can I import Chase statements into QuickBooks?

Yes. Export as QBO (Web Connect) and upload it in QuickBooks under Banking, then Upload transactions. CapyParse fills in the financial institution details QuickBooks checks, so the file imports without the "unable to verify financial institution" error. A plain CSV export is also available if you prefer mapping columns yourself.

Is it safe to upload my Chase statement?

All uploads are encrypted in transit via HTTPS. Your documents are stored securely, only you can access your data, and you can delete any document from your dashboard at any time.
